PEPrompten

About

Prompten is written and maintained by Daniels Bloom.

I built this because the useful material on prompting was scattered across vendor documentation and research papers, and the courses that collected it tended to be either thin or expensive. This one is neither. It is free, it stays free, and it is written from the primary sources rather than from other people's summaries of them.

Most people know me as BMS. I've spent the last few years writing about DeFi and crypto on X — mostly long threads taking something technical apart and putting it back together in language a non-specialist can follow. That's the work I care about: not being the smartest person in the room, but making the room smaller.

Prompting is the same problem in a new field. The knowledge that matters is sitting in vendor documentation and research papers that most people will never open, and the courses that repackage it are usually either thin or expensive. So I read the sources and wrote this. It's free because that's the point.

What this course is

Eight modules, 26 lessons, a quiz after each one, and a certificate of completion at the end. It's aimed at developers and builders who want to work with language models deliberately rather than by trial and error.

Every technique here is drawn from published research or from the model providers' own documentation, and the sources are listed on the home page. Where the field is genuinely unsettled, the lessons say so.

What it isn't

I'm not affiliated with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or any other AI company, and nothing here is endorsed by them. The certificate is a record of completion, not an accredited qualification — the quizzes are unsupervised and there's no limit on retries. It says what it means and no more.

Corrections, questions, or something that reads wrong: hello@prompten.xyz

If you spot an error in a lesson I'd genuinely like to know. The material gets revised.
